Sure, the sudden urge to put all your clothes back in the closet is not very common. That is why we share below some tips to motivate you to clean your house.
How to motivate yourself to clean?
Set your alarm for 10 minutes and do all the cleaning you can within that time. It is a short time, but you will see that – for the same reason – you will feel motivated to continue with other activities. What if it doesn’t work? At least you will have had an advance in the task that you must do.
Divide your tasks
Has it happened to you that you feel more motivated when you know that, in one day, you just have to sweep instead of having to clean the whole house? This is because breaking a large task into small pieces is a proven way to combat procrastination.
So try to divide your housework between the days of the week: go to the supermarket on Monday, vacuum on Tuesday, and clean the kitchen on Wednesday, etc. You will feel more motivated to get things done than if you plan to do everything in one afternoon.
Have cleaning tools on hand
If you have on hand the tools you need to do something (a broom to sweep your bedroom), it is easier for you to feel motivated to do it when you must. On the other hand, if it is necessary that you go to the utility room to bring them, you will surely end up giving up.
Ask yourself if you need to
If you really don’t want to clean, stop for a moment and ask yourself if you should do it right now. You no longer have a single clean garment to wear? Could an animal be living in your bedroom among the thrown clothes? If so, there are no more excuses, but you can clean another day.
If the above has not worked, then give up and figure out that you have to clean your house. Who said you need to wait until you’re motivated to start doing it? Commit to doing the task even if you don’t like it (there are things that cannot be avoided).
Remember that unless you can, and are willing, paying someone to clean your house for you, that will be something you will have to do often. So follow these tips and find the motivation you need.
Steps To Quickly Clean Your Home with full motivation
There is an easy 7-step method to quickly cleaning your house that you wish you knew before!
Step # 1 Dust
Dust each room, and within each room, start at the top of the furniture and then work your way to the flat surfaces, the windowsill, the paintings, the bookcase, and the ornaments.
Step # 2 Arrange the upholstery and clean the fabrics
Undo and re-make beds, and vacuum mattresses, upholstered furniture (such as armchairs and chair seats), curtains, and pillows.
Step # 3 Clean glass and mirrors
Clean window glass and mirrors by wiping them first with a damp microfiber cloth and then a dry one. This will prevent marks.
Step # 4 Clean all surfaces
Dampen with an all-purpose cleaner and wipe all surfaces around the house with a microfiber cloth. Don’t forget places like door handles, remotes, and light switches. But save the kitchen and bathroom for the next step.
Step # 5 Do the kitchen and bathroom at the same time!
Moisten all the bathroom surfaces to be cleaned with a spray cleaner and let it work while you go to the kitchen. In the kitchen, clean the inside of the microwave, countertops, cabinets, and doors to large appliances, such as the refrigerator, stove, and dishwasher. Go back to the bathroom to scrub and rinse what you had left.
Step # 6 Vacuuming
Vacuum the whole house, in every room. It is best to start with the rooms furthest from the entrance of the house and work your way up to the door.
Step # 7 Wash the floors
Wash kitchen and bathroom floors. If any other room needs it, do that too.
